Anthony J. Merced was born and raised in the Bronx, home of historic Yankee Stadium. He attended the nearby All Hallows High School. It was there that his passion for filmmaking began to take shape, working behind the camera exclusively in advanced course work. Anthony further pursued his interest in film upon entering Hunter College. He expanded his skill set, serving effectively in the capacity of director of photography, producer, and director on various projects.
Anthony's main interest lies in directing. Particularly intrigued by personal films about raw emotions like love, fear, happiness or hate. He attempts to recreate horror in its classical film sense, taking cues from directors such as Orson Welles, Alfred Hitchcock, Jean Luc Goddard, Wang Kar Wai, John Carpenter, and many more. In Sleeping Dread, Anthony directed a silent 16mm film showing his understanding of the complex mind.
Besides directing, he has also developed a penchant for writing. As a screenwriter, Anthony has been highly active, composing several short scripts.
Anthony is currently living and working in Manhattan. He is constantly working on several projects at once and seeking assistance of all kinds.
